Research Interests
My goal is to investigate how ecological principles operate in an agricultural context and apply these concepts to enhance productivity, resilience, stability, and resource use efficiency of agroecosystems. My focus is on how heterogeneity in space and time modulates trophic relationships, determines the rate of underlying agroecological processes, and modifies the functioning of agricultural systems. I am interested in identifying the scaling of ecosystem functions to provide insight into how management interventions can be manipulated in space to generate multiple services for agroecosystems. I would also like to understand how landscape structure can be spatially planned to explore synergisms between agricultural and natural systems and, ultimately, to conserve species, land, water, and atmospheric resources.
